WHITE KID ALBUM REVIEWS - Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Lets start with the actual music before we hit on melodies and lyrics.
The music is not even that good, I’m not sure if it was Madlib’s fault, or the fact that sometimes I can be a total music snob; which makes me a biased pig but whatever. Beat wise, it’s essentially 4-5 shitty drum loops, poorly retouched over and over. Yes, I am aware it’s Aphex Twin, but to be honest when it’s done that poorly, I’d keep AT’s name off of it. They are also kind of off beat at times, which seems intentional but it wasn’t executed correctly. I’m aware this is most like any other hiphop album but this is Kanye we’re talking about, and we all expect better. As far as the synth/piano goes, I think it varies song to song. I happened to really like the piano for Blame Game, and hated the synth in Lost In The World. In the end though, it’s as if some mediocre beat maker in Fruity Loops had his way with this album
The Mixing seems to be the worst out of all of Kanye’s albums, however I am not sure if he was trying to go for a more lo-fi feel to appeal to more hipster and urban youth. To me it seems more like he’s thinking,
“I worry about how this album will sell because I believe it will determine the amount of sex I will have in the future.”
I will admit though that just about every artist takes 2-steps forward for one album, and then try’s to go back to their roots. For right now though, it seems the ego-tripping Kanye we all knew is dead, and this new even more pretentious “I am the world’s greatest artist,” Kanye will be around for a long time, or until he drops a new album [Which I hope won’t sound ANYTHING like this one]
The lyrics are something else to talk about, He’s typically very clever when he raps, and doesn’t resort to cheap lines to make a rhyme. In MBDTF [lol] he most certainly does.

Even Kanye has got to know that’s not good writing at all. However, it’s not just Kanye’s writing that is pretty bad, I’m looking at you Jay-Z [Who I was excited to hear was a part of this] and Rick Ross who pretty much shit all over their microphones and called it gold. It wasn’t quite that bad but can you tell I was obviously let down by Rap Legend Jay-Z
This album is already getting crazy rave revues and positive scores. I’m sure it’s going to pave way for all new rappers, and go down as album of the year. It’s going to be held so highly and seen as this amazing album that really changed the game. This shit has been done, this shit is dead and should stay dead.
