The Mountain Goats

Love Love Love Live

I remember getting into the Mountain Goats one night while watching Moral Orel. John Darnielle’s distinctive voice had triggered that, “Where have I heard this voice before, who is this guy, this is going to drive me nuts” kind of feeling. After doing my research I realized a few of his songs had been thrown into the mix of Moral Orel. This started a journey I could never look back from, since that moment I have become a true fan of The Mountain Goats. I love everything about the music, from the lo-fi 8track feel to the Upbeat songwriting with not so upbeat lyrics to top it off. Love Love Love holds a special place in my heart, and remains one of my favorite songs of The Sunset Tree.

Anthony Raneri

The Ballad of Bill the Saint

This is my favorite song off of Anthony Raneri’s debut solo album New Cathedrals. Although it was released acoustically on Anthony’s myspace years ago I still love it and think he did a fantastic job on this new version. At first I was a little upset by how different it was, but now after reflecting I’m enjoying how it sounds. Raneri has come a long way, and I’m glad he’s taking us every step of the way with him.

New Gear - Almost there!

My new Mic came today and I’ve got to say it’s one of the most clearest sounding mic’s I’ve ever used. The AKG Perception 120 is my best mic for now, and will be my Mic of choice for vocals on the record unless I can get my hands on on the 220 or 820 Tubed model. For now though, I am totally content with this purchase, even without the preamp I think it sounds fantastic. My vocals are coming out clear as ever, and I am starting to feel like I’m coming way closer to actually finishing the record. Seriously I mean it this time, just have to gather a few friends for the sing-along’s and Gang vocal parts. Then it has to be sent back to the studio to be completely mixed and mastered.

Also one of Bridget’s friends who composes music for indie films has dedicated some of his time to add some orchestral parts to two of the tracks; the opener and the closer. I think it makes them even more powerful and adds something I wouldn’t of been able to do on my own. It breaths life into what was once a dull song (In my opinion which is hopefully not yours.)

Saves The Day

The Way His Collar Falls

My twin sister is pregnant with her second baby, which can only mean one thing; baby names. Her Husband want’s to name the child Pat, regardless of gender because his favorite team is the New England Patriots. Patricia for a girl, and Patrick for a boy. My sister is thinking a little out of the box and wants to name her child Leaf, (Probably not spelled Leif) which I totally dig. When she told me I started to sing this song to her but she and everyone else for that matter had no idea what the hell I was singing about.

Anyway, I love this song I heard it a long time ago and I immediately connected with it. It’s real without trying hard, It gives me an intense visceral nostalgia type feeling. I used to ride the train three to five times a week, and I would write down all the characteristics of the people that would stand out to me. I love the train, and I can’t wait to hop on it again soon.

ZELDA TIMELINE

Nintendo has gone all out for The Legend of Zelda’s 25th anniversary. In addition to the concert tour and multiple new game releases, the company has released a commemorative art book in Japan titled Hyrule Historia. Apparently, it also contains an official Zelda timeline sanctioned by Nintendo!

According to a fan translation at Kotaku, the timeline is actually comprised of three parallel universes, all of which are created due to Link’s actions during and after The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

If Link fails in his quest to defeat Ganon, the events of A Link to the Past come to pass. However, if Link wins the day, the timeline splits in two distinct ways. The Wind Waker branches off from the timeline where Ganon ruled for seven years while Majora’s Mask follows on from OoT’s ending of Link back in his boyhood village.
So, when its all mapped out, the official timeline looks like this…

1. Skyward Sword
2. The Minish Cap
3. Four Swords
4. Ocarina of Time

Timeline A: Link is Killed by Ganon in OoT
5A. A Link to the Past
6A. Oracle of Ages/Oracle of Seasons
7A. Link’s Awakening
8A. The Legend of Zelda
9A. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Timeline B: Link Defeats Ganon in OoT, Lives Out His Life from Boyhood
5B. Majora’s Mask
6B. Twilight Princess
7B. Four Swords Adventures

Timeline C: Link Defeats Ganon in OoT, Lives Out His Life from Adulthood
5C. The Wind Waker
6C. Phantom Hourglass
7C. Spirit Tracks

I’m not going to 100% say I agree with this. It’s not really leaving room for any new games, which is understandable because we don’t know about them yet. Just something about it kind of bothers me… Hmmm
